Sir Henry Wood designed the Last Night of the Proms as a joyous nationalistic event to conclude the series of concerts. In 2019 the Royal Albert Hall contained primarily EU flags and this year (2020) the BBC have announced that wish to ban popular traditional Last Night anthems.

The BBC should now relinquish the Last Night and allow this to be taken over by another company before it becomes something that Sir Henry Wood never intended.

If the BBC remains intent upon removing the British theme from the Last Night then the government should intervene and call a referendum on the future of the licence fee as a compulsory form of taxation.

This petition must be addressed by the BBC Director General and the Prime Minister as the BBC can no longer be viewed as a politically neutral organisation and this petition therefore recommends that this particular concert can only be safeguarded if it is taken away from the Corporation and run along the traditional lines as intended by its creator.
