Apologise for booting Iain Watters off the show after his Baked Alaska was sabotaged

The Issue

On Wednesday evening the nation witnessed an act of sabotage on BBC television.

Great British Bake Off contestant Diana removed Iain Watters' ice cream from the freezer and left it in 25 degree heat - causing it to melt and ruining his attempt at the Baked Alaska challenge.

Iain promptly threw the dessert in the bin and, in a macabre twist, was then forced to face humiliation by presenting his bin to judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

He was scolded for losing his cool in the kitchen, with Mary dubbing his behaviour ‘unacceptable’ as she refused to put him through to the next round.

We say Iain was the victim of an underhand plot by his rival (now better known as "ice cream-melting supervillian") and while he cannot be reinstated on the show (it was filmed earlier in the year), he is owed an apology.
