In an effort to save cash, BBC Radio 2 have axed live programming on the overnight slot, and the legendary presenters, Alex Lester and Janice Long are to be replaced by automated shows and repeats from February. Guh.

Because there are fewer listeners at night, BBC Radio 2 bosses are making their "difficult decision" savings here. I have created this petition because I think that this is a very poor decision, one which should be looked at again, following proper consultation with the station's listeners, particularly the hundreds of thousands of overnight listeners who RAJAR don't speak of.

By axing these entertaining, live programmes, the BBC is really letting down its night-shift workers. All those listeners in trucks, factories and hotels, security cabins, prisons and hospitals. Come on BBC Radio 2, there are far more obvious places to make those savings.
