The Olympics showed that women are not only interested in sport, they are very good at it. The BBC (radio and TV) is great at promoting men's football, men's cricket, men's rugby, men's golf, men's snooker, men's darts, men's cycling, men's motor racing etc., This is great for our young men, but where are the role models to inspire our young women? Since the Olympics, the BBC has reverted back to type, giving women's sport a paltry occasional mention. This is not good enough. We all have to pay our TV licence, and females form more than half the population, so we demand at least half the coverage. No taxation without representation! No more excuses that women's sport isn't interesting enough or doesn't have the following. Darts didn't have a following until someone decided to broadcast it and stick with it. And it shouldn't be down to viewing figures alone. It should be about fairness. Our national broadcaster should be blazing a trail and setting an example to the rest of the world.
