Lots of countries in Europe take part in the Eurovision song contest each year which provides them with the opportunities to promote their country, language and culture to the rest of Europe and to the world.

A Welsh entry in Eurovision would allow us to show our strong and varied culture to the rest of Europe as well as giving an international stage to the many talented musicians that we have here in Wales.

In 1969, Cân i Gymru, a Welsh-language singing competition was launched with support from BBC Cymru Wales with the intention of this programme being used as a pre-selection show for Wales' Eurovision entry. This show is now broadcast by S4C and has been put forward by many people to be used for future Eurovision entries. Unfortunately, the BBC decided that only one entry could be submitted for the whole of the UK.

Wales is "the land of song", so let's live up to that and have a Welsh entry in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Mae llawer o wledydd yn Ewrop yn cymryd rhan yn y Gystadleuaeth Cân Eurovision bob blwyddyn, mae hyn yn rhoi cyfleoedd iddyn nhw i hybu eu gwlad, eu hiaith ac eu diwylliant i wledydd eraill yn Ewrop ac i'r byd.

Byddai cystadleuydd o Gymru yn ein caniatau i ddangos ein diwylliant cryf ac amrywiol i weddill Ewrop yn ogystal â rhoi llwyfan ryngwladol i'r cerddorion talentog sydd gyda ni yma yng Nghymru.

Yn 1969, cafodd Cân i Gymru, cystadleuaeth canu sydd yn awr yn cael ei darlledu ar S4C, ei lansio gan BBC Cymru gyda'r bwriad o'i defnyddio fel rhaglen cyn-ddetholiad i ddewis cystadleuydd Cymru ar gyfer Eurovision. Mae'r rhaglen yn dal i fodoli a mae nifer o bobl wedi awgrymu ein bod ni'n ei defnyddio i ddewis cystadleuydd Eurovision yn y dyfodol. Yn anffodus, penderfynodd y BBC y dylai fod dim ond un cystadleuydd o'r DU.

Cymru yw "gwlad y gân", felly dylen ni gystadlu yn Eurovision yn 2016.
