The BBC has recently axed Dickensian after falling viewing numbers. The only reason this happened was because the episodes were dotted randomly here and there in half hour slots. If the show was on for hour episodes at a time that people are easily able to watch it and on a specific day, viewing numbers would dramatically increase.

The acting in the show was phenomenal, and the script and idea itself was much more original and enjoyable than a lot of TV series at the moment! If any show deserves a second series, it's Dickensian.
