2point4 Children - BBC, Release The Complete Series on DVD!
The Issue
2point4 Children is the longest running 1990s UK sitcom. Broadcast between 1991-1999 it was regularly watched by upto 14 million viewers.
The series followed the lives and mishaps of the Porter family, Bill and Ben and their two children Jenny and David, along with their man-hungry neighbour Rona and Ben's sarcastic assistant Christine.
If they weren't walking into minefields, being cast adrift on an open boat, getting stuck on the ledge of a tower block, killing their next door neighbours pets, getting addicted to chocolate bars or accusing their neighbours of being vampires they were hacking into Bill Clintons computer.
It remains one of the only mainstream sitcoms to not be released in its entirety on DVD.
Series 1-3 were released over a decade ago. A combination of poor sales and rights issues ensured no more series were released.
The main sticking point seems to be the inclusion of a life sized replica of FAB1 from Thunderbirds. The rights to Thunderbirds currently belong to ITV Plc who want a small fortune for the use of the image.
In September 2016 it will be 25 years since the first episode was broadcast. The BBC is also celebrating 60 years of classic sitcoms and appear to gave forgotten one of their hidden gems.
Please help us to get the Porter family the recognition they deserve.
