Beaumaris needs an Indoor Sports Facility
The issue
We need Bayside Council to commit funding towards an indoor sports facility in Beaumaris.
The development of the new Beaumaris Secondary College is likely to include funding from the Victorian government for only a small indoor stadium. With top-up funding from Bayside Council, an indoor sports facility for use by the whole community is possible. This would allow for our local schools, sports and community groups to have a fantastic facility, serving Beaumaris and surrounding suburbs.
Due to a lack of local facilities, many parents and kids are currently forced to use inadequate facilities or need to travel outside the region to participate in their chosen sports or activities. Or they are just choosing not to participate.
A similar facility has been built at Parkdale Secondary with Kingston Council's funding and support. This is a fantastic resource being used by many local groups and sporting clubs.
Bayside council is meeting on Tuesday 23 February to discuss funding for the stadium. Please show your support by signing this petition. We also strongly encourage any interested parties to come along to the council meeting to show your support. If you can come along, please register your interest on the Bayside Council through the following link: http://bayside.vic.gov.au/about_the_council/request_to_be_heard.htm (enter ordinary council meeting, agenda item 10.4).
