The Decision Makers

Responded
I’m writing in response to feedback over the weekend re: the decision to co-locate TFM with sister station Metro. All the comments have been noted and are important to us. The decision to co-locate was made by our senior management team here in the North East and was based on extensive research and insight carried out during the last six months with listeners across the region, as well as business performance. While it was a difficult decision to make, we are confident the vast majority of people tuning in will enjoy the new shows. The important local Teesside elements like news and information will be retained. I know our presenters will work tirelessly over the coming months to ensure they deliver editorial content that is balanced across the full region. TFM will continue to be involved and actively support local events across Teesside; and the station’s charity, Cash For Kids, will still raise and allocate funds locally across the transmission area. From an advertiser perspective, businesses will still be able to purchase advertising that is specific to the TFM broadcast area and they will be serviced by a dedicated TFM sales team covering the area. The vast majority of staff have transferred to the new site where we are confident the sharing of resources, ideas and other key business functions will see an improved offer to our listeners and business clients. It is always difficult when people are affected by a business decision but, as owners and custodians of TFM, we are confident that it is the right decision for the station now and for its future.
