The VAPP Legislation is an Act to eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence against persons and to provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders. The Legislation provides for 26 Offences, and effectively protect all genders. It especially remedies the lacuna in existing penal laws that is gender blind to the plight of male sexual assault victims, and thus exclude them from the protection of the law.

Domestication of the VAPP Legislation in Bauchi State will greatly curb the increasing menace of Gender Based Violence, Domestic violence and child sexual abuse in the state.

IKRA FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT (IFWYD) in coalition Chid is Gold (CIG) Foundation and A Syndicate in Supporting Women and Children Initiativr (SISWACHI) charge the Bauchi State House of Assembly and the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Abdukadir Bala Muhammed to pioritize the domestication of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Legislation Bauchi State.

Presently, the VAPP Legislation is the only holistic legal instrument that succinctly addresses issues of gender based violence, domestic violence, obnoxious customary practices and other forms of violence prevalent in Nigeria today.

The people of Bauchi State should be availed the protection of the VAPP Legislation.
