I wanted to try to space out my updates but I feel that this is important to state on here due to it happening frequently since the pandemic.
Customers that have been coming into the store have been very hostile towards my coworkers and I when we tell them we are out of an item, cut off the sales/ pickups of firearms, or the fact we are not wiping down our counters or iPads after every transaction. Mind you, we are very limited on our cleaning supplies and we try to clean as frequently as we can.
My experience with an aggressive customer was last weekend when I told him that we stopped the sales/ pickups of firearms due to a 5 hour wait. The customer began screaming and flailing his arms at me saying that he “drove an hour out here” and “risked his health” to get here. I had to get one of our managers up to the scene to tell him that we could not give him his firearm today.
The other incident was with my coworker who was keeping count of how many people were coming into the store. She greeted everyone who came in and left. One customer was heading to the restroom and she asked him if he needed help with anything, the customer then stated, “I’m going to the bathroom unless you want to hold it for me”.
The final incident I’m aware that has happened at my location was a couple of days ago. A male coworker was working his department and noticed a customer sitting on an expensive firearm case. My coworker told him to please not sit on the merchandise. The customer gets upset and says he doesn’t want to stand in line for his firearm for 3 hours and wants to sit. My coworker then reiterates that he still cannot sit on the merchandise. The customer then gets up and tries to assault my coworker. Thankfully, my coworker does not get hit. Coworker goes to a manager and tells them his side and then the manager goes to the customer who ADMITS he tried to punch my coworker. Unfortunately, there are no cameras near where the incident happened and therefore, let the customer purchase a firearm.
I’m sure the other stores in the country have similar experiences right now and I’m sure there are many more incidents happening in my store that I’m not aware of.
