I admit it, my last update wasn't a very cheery one - one year down the line and no helpline number in sight. I felt dejected and helpless. And I wasn't ready for what happened next. Today is different, today we rejoice - AND DECLARE VICTORY! I started this petition on 6th July 2019 with a simple ask - launch a helpline number for Suicide Prevention. A little over a year later, on 27th August 2020 - the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched a 24×7 toll-free National Helpline Number for Mental Health Rehabilitation. The 'KIRAN' helpline number - 1800-599-0019 aims at supporting early screening, first-aid, psychological support, distress management, mental well-being and psychological crisis management. This is a big win and a great step by the government in the right direction. I would like to thank each and every single one of you - who signed, shared and amplified this petition.
