Spoke with Representative Matthew Gambill yesterday, who is one of the State Reps for Bartow County/Cartersville. He agreed that this change is appropriate, and probably inevitable, given that Bartow (as of 2020) has a population of around 110,000, and is the largest county that still has this outdated sole-commissioner model. 

The goal now is to get as many signatures and support from local residents by October. The legislative session meets from January to March; the petition and the request can then be moved to become a bill. If the bill passes, it could possibly be put on the ballot for November of 2024 (election period).
