My daughter died the day before her second birthday 10 years ago. She was buried at Barrow cemetery. when she passed away her coffin was made bigger due to all the family wanting to put gifts and teddies in, 4 ft long (48inch) to be exact. Barrow cemetery have a baby section that my daughter was given a plot at as she was under two years of age. they understood her coffin size and her being bigger than all the babies there who sadly passed due to complications early on in pregnancy or life. They understood while being under two she exceeded their "normal" restrictions and MADE ALLOWENCES!!. The normal plot size is 2ft 6inch by 2ft, this for the younger babies is fine but my daughter was a toddler...she was 3ft tall when she passed. For ten years I have tended to my daughters grave, fenced it the full 5ft 5inch it was when she was buried, made a path up to it and I decorate it yearly for special occasions such as Christmas, birthdays and Halloween, at no time NO ONE has EVER questioned her fence being at nearly 5ft 5 inch (the size of her plot when buried) until now!!! Nearly ten years on, nearly a whole decade on, they are now saying these "restrictions" apply to my daughters plot and even though she was bigger than that without a coffin holds no value!!! .., I am wanting to curb her plot in a special way to mark her 10 year anniversary BUT I have been told by a boss all of a sudden I am only allowed to curb her 2ft 6inch by 2ft!!!! She was taller than that when she died like I explained earlier (3ft+). For ten years NO ONE has ever told me these restrictions and when I went to choose where to bury her no one told me this then, because had they of I would of chose to bury her in a family plot which still has restrictions but bigger to fit her height ect. now my choices are conform to the restrictions and shut up, do not curb her, or move her!!!. This is important to me due to the fact I am her mother, I want to be able to buy her gifts, celebrate birthdays plan Christmas ect but I can not. the only things I can do are buy her flowers, occasional small gifts that hopefully will not be stolen or destroyed by weather and hopefully this curbing to make her place of rest a more beautiful place to be and visit. while I understand there are restrictions and regulations, these were waivered to allow my daughter to be buried in the section due to her being already bigger than what is specified. I am just asking Barrow council to allow me to continue to upkeep my daughters grave and celebrate her ten year anniversary by allowing me to curb the full length I have always tended to. This petition is to demonstrate to the cemetery that no one has an issue with my daughter being "bigger" and for them to reconsider their decision and make the same allowances for my daughter that they made for her to be buried there and allow her to be FULLY  .
