Barrc Animal Shelter wants to Euthanize a MOM and her 13 babies!
The Issue
7/17 Euthanasia List: #A2085814 Serena & S Puppies A2085802-13, 22, 2Y/1W, HW-, Rescue Only (The BARC Adoption Center, located at 3300 Carr St, Houston, TX 77026)
I am writing this because I am sick to my stomach and terrified for 14 innocent lives.
Six hours ago, BARC Houston posted a video of a mother dog and her 13 newborn puppies. Her deadline is TODAY. They are scheduled to be euthanized today.
Think about how insane that is. They gave the public a six hour window. Six hours. Most people haven't even seen the post yet. Fosters are at work. Rescue groups are trying to clear space. Nobody can move that fast, and the shelter knows it. By the time this spreads on social media, it’s going to be too late.
And here is the reality: this isn't just a regular dog. This is a mother with THIRTEEN newborn babies. Taking in a litter that size takes serious preparation, massive resources, and a specific kind of foster home. You cannot throw a massive family like that onto a same day kill list and expect a miracle in a few hours. It feels like they are intentionally running out the clock just to clear a kennel, and it’s completely heartless.
Those 13 puppies haven’t even opened their eyes yet. Their mom is doing everything she can to protect them in a cold shelter, and they are about to be put down because a system decided six hours was enough. It’s an impossible timeline.
We need BARC Houston to stop this execution immediately, and we need them to change this broken policy.
Stop killing nursing moms and newborns on the same day they are posted.
Implement a mandatory 2 week grace period for large litters. A mother with 13 puppies needs actual time so local fosters and rescue groups can coordinate the massive amount of resources required to save them.
If you are reading this, please sign it, but more importantly, SHARE IT NOW. Every minute we waste reading this is a minute closer to their deadline. Demand they give this mother and her babies a real chance to live.
🚨 IF YOU CAN FOSTER OR RESCUE IN HOUSTON, ACT NOW:
Do not just sign this. If you can take them or know a rescue that can, contact BARC immediately before the day ends.
