Dear Friends and Supporters,
We have been working with two barristers to see whether we have grounds for a Judicial Review to stop the waste from coming into our lives.
It seems that London Borough of Barnet interprets the law as it suits them and we do have a good chance to stop them and get our lives back.
The deadline is 22nd December.
The barristers so far have been working for us for free but we will eventually have to pay them and that is where you come in if you want to preserve your quality of life.
You need to make a decision on whether you want to contribute towards stopping the waste or not.
Since March we have been sending out numerous emails and leaflets asking for any sort of assistance and donations and we far we have only had less than 400GBP.
I would like to thank the residents that have contributed up to now but the amount we have is by no means enough to cover the costs of the Judicial Review.
All our fellow residents we have approached that are eligible for legal aid have been unable to help us so that means we will have to cover the costs ourselves. A small price to pay for each and every one of us.
It is worth going for it as Barnet Council can be stopped. Any fundraising event you want to organise we would like to hear about it, if you can knock on doors in your street to ask for a donation, please let us know, one of us will come with you and inform residents on where we are with the waste, any help is welcome. We have come so far and we do not plan to give up the fight now
Please donate via: Paypal:barnetraad@gmail.com or ac no: 21575996 sort code: 404758 quote:Abbots
You can also reach us via barnetraad@gmail.com
We have also been invited to a free discussion by Barnet Green Party at Friern Barnet Library from 7.30 pm on Monday 7th December on the future direction of waste disposal in Barnet, preferably NOT via Abbots Depot or via Pinkham Way either.
As well as looking at options for preventing Abbots Depot or the Pinkham Way site being used for waste disposal at all, we will talk about the overall strategy for waste disposal in North London in the context of the draft new North London Waste plan, currently at the consultation stage.
It is important to hear the views of all political parties on the waste as we have elections coming up so if you have the time please go.
We already know the views of the conservative party and their candidate and it is up to you whether you want to reward them for the r waste they want to bring in our neighbourhood or not.
Waiting to hear the views of the other political parties and candidates.
Wishing you a lovely evening and do hope we will be receiving your donations and help to fight the waste.
Kind regards
Stamo
