Dear Friends and Supporters, Despite the 700+ objections to the relocation of the Mill Hill waste in Abbots Depot, Barnet Council still voted for it as the conservative Councillors only do as their party dictates. We are questioning whether any decision taken by London Borough of Barnet about the relocation is legal as the determination of this application contravenes : - The National Planning Policy Framework - The ODPM 06/2005 , paragraph 99 and 100 - The Habitats Directive on European Protected Species The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and finally - The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010, paragraphs 9 and 41, in terms of the incomplete bat survey they have submitted in the application. Barnet Council is also showing its true colors as rumours already started that the London transport will also move in with the waste. That means all the schools buses, vans and everything the London Transport currently has in the Mill Hill depot. Not to mention the clinical waste that we will also have in Abbots Depot. The RAAD question during the Planning committee meeting on what is this clinical waste and how the lorries carrying it will be cleaned went unanswered as went all the RAAD additional questions. However, Boris and the Greater London Authority are the ones that need to put the final approval to the relocation of the depot. We will be presenting our case to the GLA so it is VERY important that you all send your objections to them in October.
