With the Mayor's casting vote the waste is going ahead as of last night. The council claimed that PRIOR to the decision taking place, they sent 1327 letters to the residents affected most. This morning, we have put a freedom of information to get the postcodes, copy of the letter and post office receipt with date but we are not holding out breath as Cllr Daniel Thomas also answered Cllr Kathy Levine that the traffic survey and all information about all the other sites were made publicly available- following our FOI requests, something that is of course inaccurate and misleading. BUT that triggered the council to send an update through the email that we have all subscribed to and I am copying and pasting below: Dear resident, At Barnet Council’s full Council meeting last night, a decision was made to acquire the lease for the land currently being used by Winters Skip Hire on the railway sidings off Oakleigh Road South. The decision was independent of the proposal for a Council fleet vehicle depot at the Abbots Depot Site, for which a planning application has not yet been submitted. This decision is, however, relevant to the Abbots Depot proposal in terms of the number of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) that will be operating along Oakleigh Road. The Council’s current estimate suggests that Winters’ business generates 250 HGV movements along Oakleigh Road on a typical weekday. The Council’s proposed fleet vehicle depot would generate approximately 127 HGV movements in comparison, resulting in a net reduction along Oakleigh Road. The Council recognises the importance of ensuring local people are informed and involved in the proposal for the Abbots Depot Site. Consequently, the current pre-application consultation phase which commenced on 2nd March has now been extended and run until 4th May 2015. Feedback received as part of this non-statutory consultation will be used to help shape a planning application for the Abbots Depot Site. You can read more about the pre-application consultation phase and what happens once it comes to an end on the project website: www.barnet.gov.uk/abbotsdepot The Council will be circulating an update newsletter to residents as soon as possible and you will receive this via email. A further newsletter will then be circulated once the pre-application consultation phase has come to an end to provide residents with an overview of the feedback received. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with the project team via this email address or 0800 157 7346. Kind regards, Ryan You can all email Ryan at abbotsdepot@communityrelations.co.uk and please cc us as we need to monitor that your comments will be included into the planning application at barnetraad@gmail.com. You do not have to make it elaborate but it is important you raise your concerns.
