Thanks to every single one of the 160,000 of you who signed this petition - Barnaby Joyce has announced $500 million to help save dairy farmers!! It includes direct financial help to help us survive the milk price cuts & they’re introducing a milk price index to make sure the big milk companies are more transparent with farmers! I still really can’t believe it! When I started this petition out of anger and upset after seeing dairy farmers like my Dad being bullied by big milk producers - I had no idea what was to come. Just three weeks later, after back to back media interviews, national TV appearances, a phone conversation with the Deputy PM and doing a speech in front of hundreds of farmers at a rally - I am so so happy to say we made a difference!! I am only 16 years old and I managed to get the Government to listen to me - how cool is that! I will make sure that I keep a close eye on this to make sure they follow through with the promise, but it makes me happy that the industry is being forced to make changes to help us farmers. Since I started this petition, my family have actually decided to lease our farm go and start fresh. It’s really sad, I’ll miss farm life after growing up in the countryside all my life. But I still hope that what I have done will be helpful for the rest of the farming community we know and love. I know it’s not just dairy farmers in crisis, there’s lots of issues that us farmers are facing. So if you need help - you can start a petition too.
