Takis: palm oil destroys rainforests

0 have signed. Let’s get to 15,000!

Over 50,000 orangutans in Borneo and Sumatra have died because of palm oil deforestation. To cultivate palm oil, the mega million dollar corporations clear cut tropical rainforests. Palm oil cultivation is one of the leading causes of rainforest destruction. Palm oil cultivation has been especially devastating to Borneo and Sumatra. It has caused mass deforestation and an incredible loss of biodiversity, and has also contributed greatly to climate change. As a result of palm oil cultivation, Indonesia is the third leading country in regards to contributing to climate change. In the process of clearing rainforests for palm oil production, orangutans are viewed as nuisances and brutally slaughtered by the thousands. Tropical rainforests are vital to the survival of orangutans because they live in trees and if palm oil cultivation continues they will become extinct. The Orangutans current endangered status is a direct result of their habitat loss.

We the people, demand Taki’s stop the use of palm oil and find a substitute that is less damaging to the environment.

Personal story
My name is Valentin. I’m 12 years old and I can’t lie, I’m addicted to Taki’s. I know that orangutans die because of palm oil and I don’t like that, so I’m writing this petition to stop you from contributing to the deaths of orangutans. Taki’s are very popular to kids at my school, but I have been sure to tell my classmates how Taki’s contributes to the destruction of the rain forest, the potential extinction of orangutans, and climate change. Please join me and encourage Taki’s to become a more conscientious corporation so we can all enjoy their delicious chips.
