HELP shine light on this situation. Over 35 chained dogs!! Cats in filthy cages also.

The Issue

I want to share a video with you to help spread awareness on this situation. Numerous people have sent complaints to report animal cruelty at 9401 Ponderosa Houston, TX 77074.

There has been update from SPCA & they confirmed the man only cared for 8 Dogs!! When that’s a total lie. I don’t know if they are taking the matter seriously but this situation needs urgent awareness and we could use the help of the media to shine light on this situation- the man is a hoarder & these dogs have been there for many many years. The videos were shot week on 8/26/20 12am at 9401 Ponderosa when I was out trying to look for strays or anyone needing help with sheltering their animals the day before hurricane Laura. I came across this property and couldn’t believe what i had discovered that night, I drove around the property to see what was the name of the Business but all I could see was dogs chanined all over the property, Specially in the back alley of the unit. I proceeded by driving towards the front of the building when I spotted a Medium Pittbull mix Chained in the front of the building. I proceeded by checking for food and water and there appeared to be none,  during my inspection I found marks on her neck. I couldn’t find it in my heart to leave her so I took her. The next day i returned and the owner of the property Johnny Demel came out to confront me on why was on his property, I offered to help but the man refused help or to surrender any animals or let anyone inside the property. All that he wanted was money. I wasn’t going to stop until I got answers.

Since than we have discovered other property owned by the same person at 9401 Poderosa Houston TX 77074- I have discovered he has a total of roughly 5 other pieces of land close to 11326 Craighead Dr. Houston, TX 77025 & 11334 Craighead. We also heard a lot of dogs barking coming from that second property, which we believe all 35 dogs have been move to any of his other properties. Both properties contain several large shipping containers for unknown reasons.

On my way out of the neighborhood I spotted Mr Johnny & a unknown person unloading dog crates out of his white truck outside of 11334 Craighead on 8/30/20.

The man claims he picks up strays and slowly tries to find them homes with the help of 2 other people. The problem is the living conditions these dogs are in are worse than being out on the street. These dogs are kept chained up outside in the heat day and night. Some have been confirmed to be HW+ stated by the people who claim to be helping. It is very clear the situation has become too much for them to properly handle.

According to and an officer which emailed me he mentioned that, Law enforcement along with BARC concluded the animals are properly cared for and the man provided proof for all 8 animals.

When I asked the office how many animals did he show proof he said... he will keep monitoring the 9401 Poderosa Address. Mr. Demmel continues to move the animals day by day. It’s been an outgoing thing for many many years, he is known for “hiding the animals”
