"Observe constantly that things take place by change, and accustom thyself to consider that the nature of the Universe loves nothing so much as to change the things which are, and to make new things like them." - Marcus Aurelius Dear Friends of Freedom, Thank you so much for signing our Petition. We are humbled by your noble support for Mexico and for a more intelligent and constructive North American US Policy; one that seems already underway and is hopefully more humane. I want to thank you with all of our heart, all of my heart, for your courageous support of this Petition. Our small yet highly targeted effort, might easily have passed unnoticed in the din of protest & heat of 24 hour coverage about Mexico in Washington; but all of this has resulted in some clear victories for Freedom, thanks to your "grain of sand" and together with courageous groups like UsTired2 and many other support and activist groups in Mexico. Of all of the many small victories, I was particularly moved to see people in Mexico, coming together with people in the United States, in a Spirit of friendship, kindred spirits and a fresh vision for a common future. Let's build on the bridges which this crises has originated. Let's open our minds. Among other positive and constructive developments, we are grateful for: 1.- Senator Dianne Feinstein has sponsored new Legislation imposing tough new limits on torture and other secret practices, which we hope directly impact the ability to support the failed "Merida Initiative." This is new Legislation that may still be broader, but as we all now know, we have been heard in Washington, there is currently a drive for rising to the Light and purifying the US from the dark horrors of secret evil and rescuing the Spirit of Freedom. 2.- Senator Patrick Leahy appears to stand by his limits on funding governments which violate Human Rights. This debate is to unfold openly, but we are hopeful that the US Senate will review the merit for terminating the "Merida Initiative" on the grounds of the Leahy Amendment and the irrefutable journalistic worldwide web proof of grave human rights violations in Mexico. 3.- Several US and global foundations have joined Mexico in justly and lawfully petitioning a more humane policy. Important US Policy players including the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation, together with Human Rights Watch and others like Amnesty International, have joined in pressing for US Policy towards Mexico to change. We are very grateful for their courageous support and together, we are awaiting specific steps to "end the horror of violence in Mexico," but we are certainly encouraged by the current responses. 4.- We are hopeful that the new US Policy "North America: a Time for a New Focus" may be implemented in a more humane and integral manner, as Mexico shares with the United States a strategic position in the world, as friends and family. We are North Americans and we're driving change. 5.- Lastly, we want to thank POTUS Obama for a wonderful example of tolerance and respect for the First Amendment, by letting the UStired2 and Ayotzinapa protestors yell and scream as much as they wanted, right from Lafayette Park. By news media accounts, you could hear their protest right in the Oval office! It is a welcomed and clear example of Freedom of Speech. Together with a new Spirit for a "reset" in the United States and Mexico strategic relationship, I am one to view with great optimism the new possibilities that have opened for our societies. Never before had there been such an opportunity to bring together the People of the United States with a kindred People of Mexico. There are many profound roots between our Countries and as we all saw, this horrible "Ayotzinapa Massacre" also brought together thousands, hundreds of thousands in a common bond of solidarity. Policymakers in the United States are already moving in a new direction. Some fear change, but those fears should be extinguished by the facts that are already unfolding. There will be change, for certainly, it is the only constant. We continue to evolve, to grow, to learn, social shocks are driving us to exert ourselves, to reach beyond our grasp, to open new possibilities and to realise, that we are all connected, we all feel the pain and the joy of the People of North America. In open and democratic societies like ours, social and political crises always drive change. We condemn the violence, we condemn the horrors of secret militaristic genocide. But we applaud the freedom, the courage to change and the amazing ability for America to always re-invent itself. Change in our case, is largely possible because of the courage and ethical vision of organzations like Change.Org it has been possible to bring this message to you. Bravo Change.org we love your Spirit of Change. Thank you so much, 115 Million Mexicans and one "true blue heart."
