We have updated the Petition letter, which we had initially drafted in the corresponding section of this motion for truth and peace in Mexico.
The text, which will be emailed to US President Barack Obama and to US Senator Dianne Feinstein, has been updated to read:
Dear Mr President,
Based on the sacred principles consecrated in the Declaration of Independence, which is a universal statement of human rights, I hereby peacefully and lawfully, petition the United States government to please stop supporting a corrupt, murderous and no longer legitimate Mexican government.
Please Sir, in the name of the Spirit of truth and freedom, in the name of decency and law, would you please have the compassion and the ethical vision to assist the Mexican people?
As we have all learned from myriad accounts and news reports, many atrocities have been committed in Mexico, since the start of the "Merida Initiative." From 2008 and until this date, there have been over 100,000 people murdered; together with over 20,000 people sequestered and forcefully made to "dissappear." Clearly, as you stated in your address to Latin America, the United States must change a policy that is simply not working!
The people of the world are looking towards the United States for moral, ethical leadership. We are all eager to see you support Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The foundational self-evident truths that all human beings have as birthright, regardless of their race, their creed or even their national origin.
We pray that the United States Constitution and the rule of law overcome the forces of secret militarism, genocide and wanton destruction of life in Mexico.
Would you please, Mr. President, help Mexicans save their lives?
I am grateful for your kind and compassionate consideration.
