According to the Huffington Post, (2016), Flasnacloich, a six year old mare, died after being "under the whip for the 25th time," and there is a possibility that there have been more than 8 causalities. Mandatory operating procedures perpetrated on horse tracks includes: beating/whipping/doping/dumping and death. What's worse-"700-800 racehorses are injured or die every year," (PETA, 2001). What can we do? We can "work to ensure that racing regulations are reformed and enforced, lobby against the construction of new tracks, and educate your friends and family members about the tragic lives that racehorses lead."
