There is an insidious market, a big but largely unnoticed and unchallenged export market of lion body parts for "medicinal" purposes predominantly to the Far East. Along with rhino horn, lions supposedly provide men wonderful powers and is highly sort after especially as Tigers are no  longer providing these men with enough "stamina" and "predator" strength due to a shortage of Tiger parts. The South African market  is now being tapped for lion parts. The only requirement being people willing to breed and raise lions to maturity and then to "euthanase" them and package their various parts for export. At this point, all our sane readers will shrug and feel at ease, for how can that requirement ever be fulfilled. How is it possible that anyone would or could ever raise a lion and then slaughter it for its body parts? 

The sad fact is that where there is money there will always be people willing to set aside ethical restraint to do what ever it takes to acquire it. Until the demand is shut down, the supply will spring up to meet the demand. The mentality that lions are just one more species of livestock is prevailing and lions are no longer only at risk of being hunted for trophies, but of being indiscriminately slaughtered in their hundreds.
