Abolish Private Prisons and Jails in the USA
Abolish Private Prisons and Jails in the USA

We the people of the USA are calling for the President and Congress to support the “Justice Is Not For Sale Act”. It is unacceptable both morally and fiscally, to allow the private prison industry to trample true freedom and liberty in the name of profit. You are either for or against treating people like human cattle (chattel) to trade on Wall Street like a commodity. There is no middle ground. We the people are petitioning elected leaders to reverse this ugly trend by abolishing the private prison industry, which is the driving force behind mass incarceration that has come to look a lot like legalized slavery and involuntary servitude.
With the majority of prisoners incarcerated over non-violent drug crimes, it seems the intent over the past three decades has been to turn people into criminals.
The political and social commentator Ayn Rand once said, The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
It is well documented that the corporations involved in the private prison industry have been successful in getting the federal and state governments to create criminals and imprison them using harsh sentencing legislation while creating conditions for repeat customers as the industry refers to their human commodities.
A number of states like Louisiana which by itself has the world's largest prison population, more than any other state and sadly more than the nation of China, have contracts with private prison corporations like the CCA to keep prisons full and that if they do not keep the prisons filled to near capacity, tax payers are still billed for empty beds. The “Justice Is Not For Sale Act” will eliminate such contracts by eliminating the private prisons that created them and end the scamming of U.S tax payers.
We the people who have signed this petition demand an end to this morally reprehensible practice of profiting off the bodies of human beings who for the most part, would have never been in prison if not for the private prison lobby and politicians that created criminals for profit.
We have faith that Congress will do the right thing and pass this legislation so that the President can do the right thing and sign it into law. Future generations will look back at this time period and recognize the huge step forward that was taken in the name of restoring the promise of liberty and justice for all.
Thank you in advance for abolishing the private prison industry.
