Bring Furman B. Quattlebaum Home
The Issue
My name is Furman Quattlebaum, aka “LaRon”. I was arrested on July 31, 2002 and charged with- conspiracy to distribute and distribution of 5 kilograms of cocaine and 60 grams of cocaine base. On May 2, 2003, I was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. I was 21 years old. Based upon changing laws and the progress that I made while incarcerated, in 2008, my sentence was reduced to 25 years. I am 35 years old now and have 8 years remaining on my sentence. I have had over 14 years to reflect on the choices made. I strive every day to grow and become a more responsible and respectful man. I have a different outlook on life now than I did in 2002. I have children that need their father in their lives. I want to be able to see them graduate high school. If I serve out my remaining time, I will not be able to do that.
I have been appointed a Clemency Attorney to represent me. Clemency is a power given to a public official, such as a governor or the president, to in some way lower or moderate the harshness of punishment imposed upon a prisoner. Clemency has also been defined as an act of grace or mercy. I am asking you to come together as a community and support me and show your willingness to forgive me for my past actions. I have spent the most of my adult life behind bars and I have missed so much of my children’s lives. My only focus is to become the best father and man that I can be. I am asking that you allow me another chance at life, to prove that I am a changed man and an opportunity to be a productive citizen.
I would like to thank you in advance for your support. Please sign this petition in favor of President Obama granting clemency on my behalf. In addition to signing this petition, you can send letters of support to one of the following:
