We, the undersigned, are concerned United States citizens who urge our President to act now to proclaim September 2016 as National Kinship Caregivers Month.

Kinship caregivers spend their lives giving to the children in their families. They work to mend broken lives, protect and nurture traumatized children so they grow into healthy, productive citizens, and prevent the costly entry to foster care. As our nation is discovering the benefit of preserving family ties and working to develop appropriate programs and support for these children and their families, a Presidential Proclamation will assist us in raising awareness and action in our local communities and in our states. It is time that we publicly recognize the benefits and sacrifice of kinship care. Please honor our kinship caregivers of children with a Presidential Proclamation. Thank you.
