The Issue

After two years of wrongful imprisonment for assault, the Lawrence Superior Court wrongfully convicted Jeffrey Lewis, Jr., on 4 counts of rape and one count of assault. Furthur investigation has uncovered information that could exonerate Mr. Lewis. An appeal is being pursued on his behalf, but these processes take a lot of time, and Mr. lewis has already lost over 4 years due to these false accusations that were made against him. Here is what you need to know in signing this petition. This is not a open and shut case of rape.
This not a case of rape, but instead it is a case of an abusive x-lover who became irrate when the thought of loosing Mr.Jeffrey Lewis. In the early summer of 2013 when Jeff attempted to break off their extremely unhealthy relationship for the last and final time, 'victim' threatened him and stated she would "make him suffer". She then attacked Mr. Lewis.
Witnesses stated during the trial that he did NOT hit her back or even defend himself, as she struck, kicked and scratched him.
Concerned for her safety as well as his own, Mr. Lewis contacted the police for support. But when the police arrived, instead of assisting the caller; (Mr. Lewis), the police failed to take any statement from him, and walked directly to the woman, assuming that she was the one who was in need of help. It is clear that this was an act of discrimination by the Haverhill Police Department.
Jeffrey Lewis never had a chance to prove his innocence. By presuming that the accuser is in fact a “victim” prior to any investigation or proof, does a grave disservice to those who are accused of serious sexual offenses. This is a common occurrence in these situations, ignoring a concept at the of due process.
INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY??Jeffrey Lewis was never considered innocent, and the jury was NEVER fully informed to make an educated decision about the case.
