Grant gray wolfs protection by banning hunting on all wolfs, endangered or not.
The Issue
Since the early 1800’s Wolfs have been hated and targeted because of their wild nature that drives them to pray on livestock. Farmers and townsmen have since begun to hunt Wolfs to help save their livestock. Much of the food resources that are naturally presented to Wolves out in the wild may become limited after a certain amount of time due to feeding of large packs. When the food levels become low, Wolves begin a new hunt that pushes them to prey on domesticated livestock that farmers herd and raise. This is when the war between the humans and the Wolves begins. Humans have won most of the battles as the National Wildlife Service website has reported that wolfs were reintroduced to Yellowstone Park in 1995 after a 60 year absence period. Obama needs to hear our plea in order grant protection towards Wolfs from anyone who dares to harm them out of spite or out of bad intentions.
As of late the National Wildlife Service website has reported a Wolf population increase in 2011; presenting a new issue at hand with Obama wanting to regulate the population of Wolves by removing them from the endangered species list. Action needs to be taken in order to help our beloved Wolves. If hunting becomes legal with the removal of Wolves from the endangered species list, the population of Wolves will soon diminish once again and all the efforts to restore wolf population will be lost. Although, the declaration of Wolf control by the Obama Administration has been ruled out as of early February 2015 as reported by NBC News, “The rule complies with a federal judge's order in December that overruled the agency's earlier decision”. The rule that has been presented will grant Wolfs protection without being listed as “endangered”.
Wolfs may have their protection for another year, but what will occur when the next year comes? Will we have to decide upon whether Wolf hunting should be legal again? We need to secure the protection of Wolfs permanently. If we help Wolves by signing this petition that will go to the Obama Administration it will help give wolves protection from any type of hunting without being listed as endangered. Each signature symbolizes the commitment and support of each individual to help save the Wolf population from another catastrophe.
Wolves are greatly needed as they are great contributors to the ecosystem as their hunting allows for feeding of other species and the rebuilding to landscapes. Wolves are greatly needed in the wildlife, since their feedings turn into soil that rebuilds much of the vegetation that other animals need to feed on. People don’t understand how greatly the absence of Wolves affects the environment and the status quo presented in the wild. The absence of Wolves leads to a shift in the food chain, for example when Wolves were absent from Yellowstone the Wildlife Service reported that the moose population “ballooned five times its normal size”. This then caused demolished woody vegetation where birds would harvest their nests. The result ended in several bird species being eliminated from the park.
The Obama administration needs to really open its eyes to see what’s actually happening with the gray Wolfs. Gray Wolfs are very important as I have listed above. Without the Wolf’s, ecosystems slowly begin to deteriorate and fall apart. Debating whether we should kill Wolfs or not shouldn’t even be a topic which we discuss. We no longer live in a time which forces us to hunt for food or other necessities. Wolfs like any other animal should have its right and dignity to live and die on its own terms; help us by giving the gray Wolfs what they need by banning hunting forever. Stop the debate on whether hunting should be a form to control Wolf population. Stop the cruelty and blinded ignorance!
