WANTING TMJ DISORDER TO BE COVERED UNDER INSURANCE FOR EVERYONE SUFFERING WITH THIS DISORDER

The Issue

TMJD stands for Temporomandibular joint disorder/dysfunction (the jaw joint).  INSURANCE COMPANIES HELP PAY for knee, shoulder, and hip joint treatments- WHY NOT THE JAW JOINTS???

There are MILLIONS of people suffering from TMJ DISORDER and having to spend thousands of dollars out of pocket for treatment.  INSURANCE COMPANIES DON'T WANT TO HELP PAY FOR ANYTHING RELATED TO TMD.  This is to include x-rays, CT scans, MRI, office visits, mouth guards, splints, surgery, etc.  Everyone that is suffering from this condition have symptoms that range from:  jaw popping/clicking, jaw pain, migraines, closed locked/ complete locked jaw (where it can barely open to the jaw is completely unable to open), difficulty eating, difficulty with sleeping, tinnitus, ear pain, hearing loss, eye pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and more (every person has more than one symptom, if not all of these symptoms together).

It becomes so unbearable that they can't function on a daily basis (it gets to this point because they can't get the help needed due to insurance companies lack of coverage regarding TMD).  Most cannot afford to pay out of pocket to get help needed because medications & treatments are very expensive.  This disorder has been silent from the press, but it needs to be heard.  We are asking for this to be recognized as a serious concern and for the government in the USA to add TMJ disorder to all insurance coverage's.

This horrible disorder is hindering the lives of many to include: children, teens,  adults who need to work to support themselves and ones that need to support their families. This is for all who are struggling due to this situation. HELP IS NEEDED from the GOVERNMENT TO MAKE INSURANCE COMPANIES CHANGE TO ADD TMD and help all who are suffering.

**To the one's that can make this possible, IMAGINE IF THIS WAS YOUR LOVED ONE SUFFERING.  Imagine if you were stuck in a situation with limited income, the insurance won't help you and a provider tells you first before I can see you it'll be $385+ for a consult/office visit, then another $200-500 for an X-ray or CT scan (or $2000 for an MRI) to see what's going on and then another $2000-12,000 for treatment or someone needing surgery that cost $20,000+ out of pocket.

THERE NEEDS TO BE A CHANGE AND THAT CHANGE IS HELPING ADD COVERAGE FOR TMD TREATMENTS AND CARE TO ALL INSURANCE.
