Brachycephalic cats are distinctly characterized by their shortened skulls, resulting in a flatter face and disproportionately large eyes that have been exacerbated generationally through human influence, driven by a distorted perception of beauty and aesthetics in animals. Tragically, this has led to the cruel and unnatural suffering of brachycephalic cats, increasing their risks of developing various conditions attributed to their malformed skull structure. In the most severe cases, brachycephalic cats have been found with the posterior part of their brain protruding from their abnormally shaped skulls and impinging upon the spinal cord. Kittens who suffer from this condition have to be euthanized. They were robbed of their ability to walk or stand, on top of suffering from involuntary eye movements and breathing difficulties. Such health consequences are a direct result of human-driven breeding practices prioritizing the appearance over the well-being of cats and should not be tolerated.

Please sign this petition to advocate for the establishment of laws to fully prevent the suffering of brachycephalic cats in Taiwan via; 

• Strengthening pre-existing regulations regarding breeding permits, such as requiring breeding brachycephalic cats to visit a veterinarian to obtain a permit.
• Mandating the neutering of extremely brachycephalic cats to reduce the prevalence of health consequences associated with brachycephalism.
• Installing strict penalties for breeders who do not adhere to regulations, such as permanently suspending breeding permits.
