It was the darkest day when our beloved Allahabad Bank having history of 155 years of glorious services with dedicated work force, being merged with the Indian Bank in the name of Bank Consolidation. We are also perplexed regarding the name of the new amalgamated entity.We Allahabadians are going to lose our identity, though almost being at par with Indian Bank. It is sad that being the oldest Bank, Allahabad Bank has not been considered as an Anchor Bank which hurts the most. Atleast the pride can somewhat be retained if the name of the new entity is named as Allahabad Bank and it’s Head Quarter remains at Kolkata.

By going through data, we find that Allahabad Bank having more numbers of Branches (Allahabad Bank 3229 Vs Indian Bank 2875), more numbers of employees (Allahabad Bank 23,210 Vs Indian Bank 19,604), substantial CASA base (Allahabad Bank 49% Vs Indian Bank 35%), better PCR (Allahabad Bank 74.15% Vs Indian Bank 49.13%) and a history of 155 glorious years cease to exist by merging it with Indian Bank With fewer network of branches, lesser workforce and with comparatively lower CASA base, still the Indian Bank has been considered as the Anchor Bank, which is very frustrating.

Therefore, we appeal to all the sensitive people to come forward and support our demand to keep the HQ of the merged entity in Kolkata and to name the merged entity as Allahabad Bank.
