Replace The Queen Elizabeth II with Amy Winehouse on the British banknotes

Replace The Queen Elizabeth II with Amy Winehouse on the British banknotes
The Issue
We all know the undeniable impact of Amy Winehouse on the British culture and the music industry. The late singer had not only become one of the most recognizable celebrities in the UK but also made the history with her immaculate talent and charisma.
Her generous and humble side was never a well known fact to the general public while her work for the charity communities was enormous. These are just some of the examples of her rarely mentioned acts:
- In 2008, Amy appeared naked in an issue of Easy Living Magazine to raise awareness of breast cancer,
- In 2009, she appeared on a CD called Classics alongside musicians such as the Rolling Stones, the Killers and many Cuban musicians to raise awareness of climate change.
- In 2009 she saved one Caribbean man’s life by paying his urgent surgery.
- In March 2011, she donated over £20 000 worth of clothes to a local charity shop in London with a will to donate more. It sadly never happened due to her early passing.
Amy was greatly loved by the neighborhood of Camden which already honored her in many ways, including the multiple murals, the statue in Camden Stables Market and a star on Camden’s Walk of Fame, but now it’s time to move forward!
Her love for people, her homeland and London was immortal & she had proved the strong connection many times. It’s US who can make a difference & let her legacy live for all eternity. Join the petition to make one of the most memorable British icons a REAL icon as she deserves.
