After all that has happened this week, it turns out that the note we have been campaigning on is a finalist to the "World banknote of the year" competition. This note could be something we are proud of, but whilst it contains tallow, we are simply ashamed. Thank you to you all for signing this petition - it has raised the issue to the forefront off news agendas across the world and prompted the Bank of England to respond with a statement. The statement says that they were unaware at the time of signing the contract with suppliers that the note contained tallow and that are now working on solutions.
