Activists Craig and Marc Kielburger have written a great piece about the importance of gender equality and diversity on our money. They pointed out that more than 55,000 people have signed our petition. It's wonderful to see this article (which I'd have mentioned to you earlier but missed while on summer vacation). As the Kielburgers say in the article, "The faces that grace a country’s banknotes are a global advertisement for a nation’s achievements and values." So how is it possible that Canadian women are missing????? We cannot give up on our campaign, and I'm hopeful that the upcoming federal election will provide us with an opportunity for action. Surely not a single party would state it doesn't support honouring Canadian women as well as men on our notes? Green Party Leader Elizabeth May indicated her support by signing our petition in January 2014 and tweeting about the Canadian women on bank notes campaign, but no other leaders of federal parties have shown any interest. I will continue to work on changing that and hope you will help in any way you can think of. Many thanks for your support.
