Banfield vet clinics: Stop limiting Care Credit Payments to $250 or more

Banfield vet clinics: Stop limiting Care Credit Payments to $250 or more
The Issue
As pet owners, we want to provide the best life, care, and treatment to our furry and feathered children. Banfield puts a price on how much you must pay to provide that treatment if you use the ONE and ONLY credit plan that they recommend. Care Credit from GE Capitol is a medical expense credit card that can be used to purchase medications, pay for medical treatment for both human and animal, and even to even purchase pet food. To use the credit the retail or medical establishment must accept the card just like visa or american express. Banfield promotes this card as a way to afford medical treatment to our pets in times of emergency or need of immediate attention. They only have one stipulation, The charge amount to a Care Credit account must be $250 (or more). In times of dire need and tight situations, this is a blessing for those who qualify for the line of credit. If you go to banfield to seek attention for your 'furry' child, you need to keep in mind that if you do not have at least $250 to spend (cash, debit, or any OTHER credit card) then you wont be able to charge the amount on your Care Credit Card. This does not only a disservice to the human parent, but also to the animal who's life could be in the balance between the provider having an incredibly high minimum and the immediate option of paying in another form. It is not fair to the animal to suffer, or the pet owner to have to mitigate services needed because the provider is specific about just how much you MUST spend to use a credit card. They use the excuse of the fees associated witht the processing of the transaction, But this minimum amount for this ONE AND ONLY credit card is MUCH MORE than any other. A pet owner should not have to watch their pet suffer, or in some cases i have read on the internet, LOSE thier loved one because service was denied because of the fiscal juggling and manuevering we might have to do time to time. Currently im providing minute to minute care to my pomeranian who was stung by a bee, and hope the swelling in her throat, eyes, and muzzle goes down, All because i wanted to use the $100 i have available on my Care Credit account and that wasnt good enough.
