A Year's Worth of Revenue Stolen from YouTube Channel with One Million Subscribers through Dummy MCN

Google's YouTube support does not just stonewall small creators. In 2020, the owners of the channel GSMArena published a video explaining that the Adsense revenue from their YouTube channel, which had at the time over one million subscribers, and YouTube refused to take action for months.

They explained that when they originally monetized their channel in 2015, YouTube created a "dummy MCN" account that was a intermediary account between their channel and Adsense account.

They never had access or control over this MCN account, it sounds like it was entirely part of YouTube's administration.

In 2019, this dummy MCN was hacked and their Adsense publisher ID was replaced with the hijackers. The revenue from the YouTube channel was diverted to the hijacker's account.

The channel owners didn't notice that their Adsense account was only crediting revenue from their website and not the YouTube channel until October 2020.

YouTube stonewalled them for months and told them:

• There wasn't evidence of an account compromise
• YouTube couldn't get involved in the account dispute and the channel owners had to negotiate with the hijackers
• YouTube refused to provide the hijackers' contact information claiming privacy laws

This was almost six years ago. The situation has not gotten better, it has only become more widespread.

YouTube created a system, the multi-channel network and the multi-channel content management system, that is unaudited, completely without oversight, and is being used by hackers for wide-scale theft and fraud.

The MCN and accompanying CMS should be entirely dismantled.
