Bulldogs already have a short lifespan, and they shouldn’t spend their last days running across big fields in the southern heat. The University of Georgia's use of live bulldog mascots puts these animals at risk. Bulldogs are prone to respiratory issues and overheating, which can be exacerbated by the hot climate in Athens, GA. It’s time for UGA Athletics to prioritize animal welfare over tradition.
