The Issue

Texas children are being served ultra-processed, chemically-laced meals in public schools—foods filled with artificial dyes, preservatives, and added sugars. Many of these ingredients are banned in Europe due to health concerns, but they’re still on trays in our state.

We believe Texas kids deserve better. That’s why we’re calling on state lawmakers to pass the Fresh Start Lunch Act—a bill designed to clean up school food and fuel our kids with real nutrition.

📌 The Fresh Start Lunch Act would:

  • Require at least one serving of fresh fruit or vegetables per school meal
  • Ban Red 40, Yellow 5, high-fructose corn syrup, and synthetic preservatives from Texas public school meals
  • Limit added sugar in school lunches to 6 grams or less
  • Create a statewide grant to help schools transition to scratch cooking and upgrade kitchen equipment
  • Require transparency by posting ingredient lists for school meals online

This isn’t just about food—it’s about public health, student behavior, academic performance, and the future of Texas.

Texas has a chance to lead by example and put our children’s health first.

🖊️ Sign this petition if you believe Texas school lunches should nourish—not harm—our kids. Help us tell lawmakers: it’s time to clean up the tray!

📝 Note:
This movement starts in Dallas, but the goal is to inspire change across Texas. Anyone who supports the effort is welcome to sign and share.

Support from Texans outside Dallas—and even national allies—helps build momentum and shows this issue matters beyond one city.
