A recent government initiative has encouraged us to ‘eat out to help out’, however this has become increasingly undesirable to do so as the majority of fast food chains and independent restaurants are using highly processed oils and spreads to cook and garnish their meals.

In particularly vegetable oils; sunflower, rapeseed, conola & margarine are keeping us inflamed, fat and unhealthy so why would we want to ingest any more of these inflammatory omega 6 fats, when this can easily be remedied with selecting healthier omega 3 fats.

Dr. Joseph Hibbeln from the National Institutes of Health has researched the impact of omega 6 and omega 3 fats on our health. He explains that over-consuming omega 6 fats and under-consuming omega 3 fats significantly increases:

Heart disease
Type 2 diabetes
Obesity
Metabolic syndrome or pre-diabetes
Irritable bowel syndrome
Inflammatory bowel syndrome
Macular degeneration (eye damage and blindness)
Rheumatoid arthritis
Asthma
Cancer
Psychiatric disorders
Autoimmune disease

An effective strategy to ensure quality fat goes back into these foods and increasing the nutritional profile of ‘fast food’ is to make the following substitutions:

�Oils

✔️YES: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Avocado oil, sesame seed oil

❌NO: vegetable oil, sunflower oil, canola oil & rapeseed oil

�Spreads

✔️YES:Grass fed butter & Ghee, coconut milk

❌NO: Margarine & vegetable, sunflower butters

Making these simple yet extremely effective swaps could potentially save billions of lives and endless tax payers money!

Extending not only lifespan but health span; the quality of your life during your later years

With this petition I propose that our restaurants take responsibility of our health and must adhere to a ‘Law on fats’. No highly processed fats will be allowed and only the highest quality oils and spreads may be used.

If this means our meals cost an extra 20p, I will take this over any of the aforementioned illnesses or diseases, call this your health tax for eating out.
