Ban the Use of Securly Classroom in Schools

Ban the Use of Securly Classroom in Schools
The Issue
I am a student, and like many others, I have been hindered by the use of Securly Classroom in our schools. This software is designed to restrict access to certain websites for safety purposes. However, it often blocks sites that are essential for research and learning.
Securly Classroom was created with good intentions - to protect students from harmful content on the internet. But its overzealous filtering system has become a barrier to education rather than an aid. It's not just me; countless other students across the country are experiencing this issue.
According to a study by the American Library Association, overly restrictive Internet filters can unnecessarily block access to educational resources without effectively protecting students (American Library Association, 2012). This is exactly what we're experiencing with Securly Classroom.
We need our schools and educators to understand that while internet safety is important, so too is our ability as students to freely access information for academic purposes. We urge them reconsider their use of Securly Classroom or at least adjust its settings so it doesn't impede our learning process.
Let's work together towards a solution that both safeguards student online activity and promotes educational growth instead of hindering it. Please sign this petition if you believe in balanced internet usage policies in schools.
