In recent times, I've personally witnessed a disturbing trend concerning the use of Meta AI glasses. A few weeks ago, I came across a content creator using these glasses to clandestinely record a protest against an oppressive trans bill. Among the protesters were numerous queer individuals, and these recordings were later used to mock and humiliate them online. This invasion of privacy is not just disrespectful, but it also undermines the right to protest and express oneself freely.

Moreover, a close acquaintance of mine had a deeply violating experience. She was recorded changing clothes by someone wearing Meta AI glasses. This incident, in my view, exemplifies voyeurism at its worst. The presence of such technology turns public and even private spaces into potential sites of abuse, stripping individuals of their control over their own image and personal space.

These frightening incidents highlight the potential for Meta AI glasses to be misused, threatening the fundamental rights enshrined in the Puttusamy verdict of 2017. The verdict emphatically grants every Indian the right to privacy, a right that is being undermined by these intrusive devices.

It's time to act and address these breaches of privacy. We must advocate for a ban on the use of Meta AI glasses in public and private spaces. By doing so, we can ensure a safe environment where everyone's dignity, privacy, and personal boundaries are respected.
