As a student, I have experienced firsthand the frustration and lack of educational benefit that comes from using the IXL math website. Every time our teachers assign us tasks on this platform, they are near impossible to finish and rarely contribute to our learning. Instead of aiding in our education, these assignments often lead to unnecessary stress and anger.

The purpose of educational tools should be to enhance students' understanding and make learning an enjoyable experience. However, with IXL, this is not the case for many students like me. The National Education Policy Center has raised concerns about online learning platforms like IXL that prioritize rote memorization over conceptual understanding (NEPC, 2019). This approach does not align with modern pedagogical practices which emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

We believe that schools should prioritize effective teaching methods over convenience offered by such platforms. Therefore, we urge all schools currently using the IXL math website to reconsider its use in their curriculum.
