Ban the Use of IXL in Schools for a Healthier Learning Environment
The Issue
My personal journey with IXL began when I was new to school. Unfamiliar with what it was, I agreed to use it as part of my learning process. As time passed, however, the realization dawned on me that this tool was not enhancing my education but rather causing unnecessary stress. A single mistake on an IXL task results in a 10-point deduction - a harsh penalty that does not foster a conducive learning environment but instead incites fear and anxiety.
IXL's approach to teaching is counterproductive; it doesn't allow students to learn from their mistakes but punishes them severely for making any. This method is far from encouraging growth and understanding; instead, it seems designed to make students feel inadequate and anxious about their abilities.
We are just kids trying our best to learn and grow in an already challenging world. The last thing we need is an educational tool that makes us feel like we're constantly failing rather than helping us understand where we went wrong so we can improve.
This petition aims at banning the use of IXL in schools across our country, replacing it with more compassionate and effective teaching methods that encourage learning through understanding rather than fear of punishment.
IXL keeps expanding it's curricular and makes it never ending. This is why people need to take action and stop the use of IXL in school's. Make child peace with IXL! There is also one disturbing fact about IXl, the creator of it, Paul Mishkin, he actually hated kids! No wonder this program is still used today! But Paul Mishkin is dead. Why should we use this now? It's not like he knows... Besides, what is the worst that can happen? We can create a new IXl but is better, non-rigged, and is actually fun. Who knows what could happen?
Sadly, there are people out there that like IXl, people who think that they should keep IXL in schools. But I disagree. Who could like IXL. Kids can do almost anything. It's important to keep a child's learning, but also have fun. School would be super boring if we could not do fun activities. I hate IXL, and think it's putrid, stinky, and should be banned. Kids can still do IXL at home, but it should be banned during school hours. There are so many people that think IXL should be banned because it is rigged, but about 5-10 people in my class think we should keep it. Lets not let that happen because kids deserve their rights and should be heard from other people. I know that some people actually want to take a stand and want to be heard. Kids deserve a say in things too..
Schools should use IXl as an optional extra credit work, not force kids to use it. I personally hate it, and think it is rigged. Do you?
Let's stand together for better education practices that prioritize student wellbeing over rigid scoring systems. Sign this petition today! Let's banish IXL from our classrooms and bring back joyous learning!
