Ban the use of IXL in schools

The Issue

I am frustrated with the IXL platform as it has negatively impacted my learning experience. My keyboard has suffered from repeated failures, particularly when responding to problems where $9.9 is incorrectly marked, while $9.90 is deemed correct. This small difference shouldn't derail my progress, yet it does.

The so-called "smart score" system is disappointing at best. The arbitrary nature of the scoring, where correct answers increase your score by only 2 or 3 points, while a single mistake can result in a drop of 10 to 20 points, is demoralizing and discouraging. Explanations, when provided, are often convoluted and hard to understand, offering little in the way of constructive learning.

I've resorted to memorizing questions and answers because the system repeatedly asks the same questions without variation. This does not contribute to genuine understanding or skill development. Even my math teacher has to tell us to aim for a score of 90 instead of 100, which undermines the entire learning process.

IXL is supposed to be a tool to help students learn better, but its inflexible and punishing system only adds stress and frustration. I am calling on schools and educational institutions to rethink the use of IXL and seek more effective and encouraging alternatives for helping students learn math and other subjects. I urge educators and parents alike to support this cause.
