The issue

Glyphosate (also known as Roundup) is an organophosphorus compound that negatively impacts human health, the health of animals and the environment.

The use of Glyphosate has been banned or restricted in California, El Salvador, Brazil, India, Sri Lanka, France, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands.

Even Germany, who are the manufacturers of this toxic herbicide are phasing it out and are banning it by 2024!

But in New Zealand, its use is widespread. The Auckland council, Northland district council, Bay of Plenty council and others are transparent about their use of glyphosate for weed control. Simply look it up on their websites!

It's sprayed by the councils all over gardens, parks, reserves, paddocks, edges of roads, kerbs, footpaths, carparks, sports fields, cemetries and even on the berm outside your house (unless you opt out of this!).

Glyphosate is a known carcinogen linked to a 41% higher risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of cancer. And exposure puts you at higher risk of developing other forms of cancer too.

Babies, children, dogs and other animals that play in the dirt are more vulnerable to its effects. And exposure to glyphosate during pregnancy may contribute to reduced foetal growth!

If the impact on human and animal health isn't enough to get your attention. This herbicide also harms the environment!

It kills bees and other insects. And without bees and other pollinators, we will be saying goodbye to plants and our entire food supply!
