I raise this petition, deeply moved by the plight of my friend's dog who wears a shock collar and endures pain each time he barks. This distresses me to a great extent, as we all know animals should not be subjected to such cruelty. Shock collars are inhumane and surprisingly legal in many parts of the world. They work by administering an electric shock to the dog when it barks; this can cause physical pain and induce constant fear and anxiety in the dog. The RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) states that the use of devices causing pain or fear is an outdated concept and it has been proven to cause suffering. The organization recommends the ban of electric shock collars in training and controlling pets. This cruel practice needs to end; our fundamental duty is to ensure our pets' welfare by advocating for humane ways to train them.
