I've witnessed these beautiful creatures tethered, walking in endless circles, and even forced into jousts for human entertainment. It's heartbreaking to know that their suffering stems from our pursuit of entertainment.

The exploitation of animals at these festivals isn't just distressing on an individual level. Various studies have shown that repeated stress and artificially imposed living conditions can cause severe health issues (additionally the amount of cigarette smoke they inhale at these events), if not premature death among these animals (source: PETA.org). It's a harsh reality that these animals pay the price for a spectacle that could easily be replaced with cruelty-free alternatives. There are skilled performers, educational demonstrations, even animatronics - all resources that can produce an enlightening and entertaining atmosphere while keeping our values intact.
