We moved to the Summerlin area 2 years ago from the midwest. We moved with our very friendly and active dog Mowgli. Around December/January 2022 Mowgli started to have unexplained health issues. He temporarily lost use of his hind legs, lost over 10 lbs and had cold sores develop on his tongue and gums. We spent over $10,000 taking him to vets in the area to figure out/ treat what was going on with him. No one was able to tell us what was going on other then he was having an extreme autoimmune response and now has asthma.

On April 29, 2022 my husband was in our backyard with Mowgli when he saw a golf cart drive by full of liquids sloshing around preparing to spray the walkway behind our home near Summerlin Centre park. 

After contacting the Summerlin council numerous times they disclosed the name of the products being sprayed. The products being sprayed throughout the entire area of Summerlin are Speedzone and Roundup.The active ingredient in SpeedZone is 2,4-D and the active ingredient in Roundup is glyphosate. Last Friday, when the spray was administered at the walkway behind our home no residents were notified of the spraying. People were in their backyards and pets were walking the trail.

This product is toxic and has not been tested on the long term effects of humans or pets. It is very possible that these herbicides are effecting our health too, it may just take longer for us to see the effects.
